      Maenad FAQ


      Who we are and how we started:

      The Maenads were formed after a series of revelations starting on December 24th, 1988 AD (which is 1st Wyld-Rising in the First Year of the Revelation of the Holy Albino in the Maenad calendar) of the existence fo the Hellwyrm of Lyra (aka B'Harne) on this plane, and the need to take up arms against it.

      The Maenads are both a philosophical and military organization, believing in any means necessary to banish the Hellwyrm back to the tenth level of Hell. Maenad beliefs: The Maenad system of belief pretty much parallels that of the Garou and established Jihaddi groups, with our own additions. Major points of note:

      • The Maenads believe in a Holy Triad of beings opposed to B'Harne, these being Gaia (also known as Earth Mother), Grimace (aka the Lord of the Fries or the Provider) and the Holy Albino (aka the Lord of Ferality or Lord of the Holy WarpSpasm).

      • We believe that B'Harne is an incarination of the Devourer Wyrm, a demon from the tenth level of Hell conjured by Lyran sorcerors to destroy Earth and to spongify the populace in preparation for the desecration of the planet.

      • We believe there has been a previous incarination (defeated by the Garou, but which destroyed the Croatoan tribe and twisted the White Howlers into the Black Spiral Dancers) of the Hellwyrm, this conjuration will be banished by one known as the White Lady who shall cast the demon back into Hell, and there will be a third incarination that will be in its true form on Lyra, which shall be finally banished along with its Lyran conjurors by the Holy Albino himself sometime in the future.

      • Being followers of the Holy Albino, we espouse the principle of WarpSpasm in our battle with the servants of the Hellwyrm.

      Application requirements:

      Generally the Maenads are invitation-only; we generally don't accept applications, but pick on the basis of exceptional courage, ferality, and steadfastness against the Hellwyrm; a known history of veneration of the Holy Albino is also grounds for membership. We are more than happy to assist other Jihaddi groups and JAOs, however.


      Awards:

      Right now, we have only three major awards:

        Order of the Komet (OtK) - generally given to those who excel in the practice of magick and magickal artificing against the Hellwyrm. Generally restricted to Maenads.

        Order of the Judges (OtJ) - generally given to those who have performed above and beyond call to the Cause. Not restricted to Maenads. Roughly equivalent to the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

        Order of Saint Johnny (OSJ) - Given to those who have served above and beyond the call of duty in service to the Cause, even to the point of sacrificing life and/or health to do so. Very rarely awarded. Not restricted to Maenads. Roughly equivalent to a cross between the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart.
      The Maenads also recognize the award of Krill tro Thargo, even though it is not a Maenad award.


      Rites and Sacraments:

      Generally the same as other Jihaddi organizations (Jolt, UnHellthy Snacks (tm), NIN, Animaniacs, etc.) with the additions of the British comic 2000AD, Guinness stout, toad-in-a-hole, Moon Pies, punk, and the groups Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, and Exodus.
    • Official colours: Red, white and gold.
    • Official insignia: An outline of a red triangle, with background in black; within the triangle is the head of the Holy Albino in full warpspasm.
    • Official battle flag: Black flag with official insignia in centre.
    • Official motto: "Terrafidelis, Unhealtitat, Feralis" (Earth-loyal, Unhealthiness (in snacks), Ferality)
    • Enemies of the Maenads: the Hellwyrm (obviously), its Lyran conjurors, followers of the Wyrm, the Morphine Pusher Strangers, Thrill-Suckers.
