Statement of Ethos: Admiral Felton

Okay, I'll admit it.

I've carried a loathing for the Beast of Nagenta since late 1993... Of course, then it was merely because of the over-sugary nature of the show causing my stomach to do backflips, and even then it was just a slight annoyance-- something to poke fun at. Upon seeing some piece of trash on some tabloid show comparing the opening of the show to some demon-summoning ritual, I couldn't help but laugh-- but I couldn't help raising an eyebrow as well. The show did, after all, seem to suck in the mindless attention of children like cult-followers to their leader.

Enter "Age of the Purple One"-- a page and a half short story about a lone sniper and his attempt to infiltrate a city besieged by artifically created "dinosaurs" to carry out his mission by taking out the Purple Messiah himself (okay, so Jurrasic Park had some influence there too.)

Hey-- it was a start.

Then came the RPG... admittedly, it was a lame attempt at one and a sorry piece of trash it was, but it opened a new avenue for the characters that it spawned-- Age of the Purple One issue 1 soon emerged (ah, comics.. a medium that I can truly handle.)

In mid-1996 I stumbled upon alt.tv.barney and was eventually drawn to alt.barney.dinosaur.die.die.die. There I found well thought-out arguments as to just why the Evil One was harmful. I was drawn in. After lurking for a while I found my way onto irc. Eventually I ran across J. FoxGlov, and showed him my work. He snatched me up rather quickly. :)

So why did I want to join the Cause[tm]? 'Cuz they all thunk like me. The efforts of the many are more likely to bring fruition than the efforts of just one. And I wanted to use my talents to help spread the gospel of the Jihad. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. :)

And hey, it looked like fun.
